Dear John,

This Mother’s Day, Urgent Action Fund (UAF) celebrates the women who are driving change around the world. Of course, Mother’s Day isn’t only about moms, it’s a day when we celebrate the women who impacted our lives and reflect on all that they’ve done for us. We give our deepest gratitude, respect, and admiration to the brave women who are fighting for a better and more equitable world for women, girls, and for all marginalized people.

Celebrate Mother's Day with Urgent Action Fund,
give a gift in honor of those special mothers or mother figures who have changed your life and the lives of those around them.

The list of courageous women who we honor is long, and because of generous donors like you, UAF has been able to stand with mothers, grandmothers, aunts, sisters, cousins, and friends who are making a difference. We have been proud to stand alongside activists like:
  • Amaaly Foundation for Development & Relief in Iraq, which operates a free health care advice hotline for poor communities under Covid-19 lockdowns. This initiative will allow women, especially pregnant women, to access safe, socially distanced care from health experts.
  • EgnaLegna Besidet in Lebanon, a group led by domestic workers that plans to support upwards of 300 migrant workers and their children with case management, legal assistance to recover unpaid wages, and support obtaining legal documentation during the Lebanese economic crisis.
  • Women's Rights House in Armenia, who have seen an increase in domestic violence and sexual violence cases across the country since the Covid-19 pandemic. In order to strengthen their emergency response, they requested funds to purchase a car for faster transportation to help evacuate victims.
  • Restoring Justice for Indigenous Peoples, a group supporting an Indigenous Women’s Human Rights Defender who is working on the issues of missing and murdered Indigenous Women and Girls, restoring the culture and land of Indigenous communities, and raising awareness around the high rate of Indigenous incarcerations.
  • A Queer Rights and feminist activist in Kyrgyzstan who is being charged by the local authorities for filing to give her surname to her children. She requested funds to help cover legal fees and to help raise awareness of this issue in the media.

We ask you to help us to continue this work by making a donation today. Your gift will allow us to continue to support courageous activists – because when women support each other, we all do better.

With gratitude,
