John,

Here in DC, compared to all states, we have the fourth-highest rate of gun
violence in the country. But we can change that.

With the 2022 budget proposal, Mayor Bowser has the chance to fund and
expand programs that are proven to reduce gun violence. The proposal must:

* Expand violence intervention programs and school-based violence
intervention programs
* Increase funding for family and survivor support programs
* Expand the Pathways Program, which breaks the cycle of violence
through long-term tailored support for those at the highest risk of
gun violence
* Expand Cure the Streets, which employs street outreach workers who
actively mediate conflict and prevent retaliatory violence
* Increase the restorative justice budget by 50%

These programs save lives. And the Mayor needs to hear from DC residents
like you that this is a priority.
