Hi john!

Excited to meet you! I'm Davida E. Arnold, Communications Director here at AAF.

As Mother’s Day weekend approaches, and as a MUVA to 2 sons because I had access to abortion, I must roll through with a note of GRATITUDE to these essential workers, the amazing abortion providers.

My abortion was a game changer, and these very same essential workers allowed me to parent on my own terms and live my best life.

I chose today because Mother’s Day weekend can be one of the most emotionally trying times to provide care. Churches bus in extra protesters. Said protestors bring in children who scream salty chants like, “Don’t kill your baby” from their candy filled mouths. Threats of violence and actual violence escalate. Mother’s Day weekend causes a lot of harm, for both providers and patients. Yikes.

So, as a West Philly jawn who does NOT fuxx with intimidation and BS, I stand up for these providers. I send this love-note to these magical, beautiful, brave abortion providers as an energetic push-back to the fuckwads they will have to deal with this weekend. One of your community, was amazingly graceful to 22-year-old abortion having me. I feel y’all.

Lemme tell you a little about me.

I’m a writer and joy activist who is the proud MUVA of these two bouncing (I really mean "bouncing," (they play basketball) fellas.

I'm the oldest of five. My parents did ERRYTHING to get and keep us all in college. The sole goal was to secure a degree that would open a door towards a future that was at least parallel to the one that systemic injustice had stolen from us. So choosing to be a writer in NYC instead of a doctor was risky business but make it Black woman. WTF.

Long short, I was dating a guy, got pregnant, immediately knew that becoming a muva at 22 was a straight NOPE for me. A week later and days before Christmas, I gave myself the gift of an abortion.

Years went by and I'd marry, have two sons, get divorced. One son attends a university that is known for its mascot that is a color not an animal, among other things. The other son folds the bland tedium of pandem life into finger-licking-good dinners, spicing up the palate of any one lucky enough to be around when he's doing his 14-year-old cheffing thing.

So, yeah, abortion cleared the path. And from where I'm typing, that path lead me right where I am supposed to be -  working with AAF to change the game for abortion access.

Thanks in part to abortion access

So how ‘bout this- How ‘bout we thank providers together.

Just sign your name and write a note to this ecard that AAF has designed especially for providers, and we will deliver said digital love party to ALL THEE AMAZING clinics providing abortion care.

Together we can make it RAIN with messages of love to wash away the trash-ass attacks our abortion providers will be experiencing this weekend. It only takes a second and the love lasts a lifetime!

Fam, I’m looking forward to building forward. I’ll be sending updates in the future with all our #PWAP AAF plans and schemes! What’s #PWAP? Good times, m’baby. Stay tuned...

Your fan, thee older, divorced warrior mother,

V
