John,

Far too many Americans know the pain of losing someone -- a parent, a sibling, a child, a friend -- to gun violence.

Day after day last month brought us news of yet another shooting.

And yet the Senate still hasn’t taken the necessary steps to pass the universal background check legislation that the House sent to them in early March.

We need Republican senators to stop stalling -- and stop worrying about the NRA and gun lobby more than their constituents. Please, add your name to our petition urging the Senate to pass universal background check legislation immediately.

We know that commonsense gun control works. We have the evidence from all of our peer countries! Fewer guns and stricter laws lead to less gun violence.

It’s obvious. It’s black and white. And it’s time for America to finally acknowledge this national embarrassment: that our kids aren’t safe at school, worshippers aren’t safe at church, and shoppers aren’t safe at the mall because of the threat of gun violence.

We can do more. And we can’t let it take another Columbine, another Parkland, or another Sandy Hook to make it happen.

Please, add your support to our petition right now.
