NBC News:
“Biden administration’s first climate pollution rule takes aim at refrigerants”
John: Earlier this week, the Biden Administration announced its first major climate rule.
The groundbreaking new rule, created by bipartisan legislation I authored, will put us on a path to phasing down hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) -- a greenhouse gas found in refrigerators and air conditioners that traps heat at greater rates than carbon or methane emissions -- by 85% over the course of the next 15 years.
By taking this significant climate action, we can avoid up to 0.5 degrees Celsius of global warming, helping meet our country’s climate goals and protecting the future of our planet while simultaneously creating hundreds of thousands of good-paying jobs.

The Biden Administration’s new rule is the first step to implement my bipartisan legislation to significantly reduce HFCs, which was signed into law last December and was our country’s most significant climate law in a decade.
I’m so proud to be working with a White House Administration that recognizes the seriousness and urgency of climate change and is taking action to protect our planet for future generations.
Thanks for all you’re doing,
TC
