Infrastructure is not just roads, bridges, and buildings. Infrastructure is anything that contributes to a thriving, healthy economy — and that includes paid family leave, child care, and caregiving benefits.

The coronavirus pandemic has wreaked havoc on our communities and economy — from business closures to job losses to setbacks in education — it’s time we build back better and build back stronger.

Too often, we hear stories of women being forced to return to work right after childbirth or working two to three jobs all because they can’t afford childcare.

President Biden recently signed Michael’s proposal to expand the Child Tax Credit into law, increasing the payments parents receive for their children and cutting child poverty nearly in half.

That’s a huge deal, but there’s still more work to be done.

Paid family leave and better childcare benefits are the crucial next steps we need to take to build a more inclusive, progressive country.
