Friend,
I’m sure you saw my email this week thanking our teachers, nurses and public employees. Over this last year, AFT members have been the glue holding our country together in a time of crisis.
We will be using our platforms to post thank-yous from our members and allies too. If you want to say thank you—whether you are a member or an ally—you can join in during Teacher Appreciation Week, Public Service Recognition Week and National Nurses Week by recording a short video that we’ll share on social media. A few randomly chosen members will receive an email from First Book with a $75 gift credit redeemable on the First Book Marketplace.
Think about it. Whether you’re a parent, a teacher or a community member, you were helped by the dedication of our nation’s nurses in the last year. Likewise, all of us were helped by public employees, who kept our essential services going during the pandemic. And we all witnessed how educators turned on a dime last spring to support students and how they’ve pushed to get back to in-person teaching and learning safely.
We’ll continue sharing these videos with the hashtag #ThankATeacher, #ThankANurse and #PSRW. I hope you’ll join us.
