Hi John,
After the 2020 election, Republican Rep. Jim Jordan claimed the Republican Party was “no longer the wine and cheese party. It’s the beer and blue jeans party,” while Republican Senator Josh Hawley boldly declared that “we are a working class party now.”
Rubbish.
Republicans can spout off all the catchy slogans about blue jeans and beer they want, but actions speak louder than words.
Here’s the thing: if you oppose stimulus checks, unemployment benefits, a $15 minimum wage, unions, overtime pay, and taxing the rich, you’re not the party of the working class.
So don’t fall for the GOP’s attempted rebrand. It’s nothing more than a cruel hoax.
The GOP doesn’t give a fig about working people.
It is, and always will be, the party of big business and billionaires.
