It's outrageous that millions of women all across the country earn less than their male counterparts doing the same job. The pandemic has made this situation even worse, especially for women of color.
Women are being forced to take on the burdens of parenting, running a household, and even schooling their children while working, creating an incredibly stressful situation. Therefore, many women are choosing to leave the workforce.
In fact, they’re leaving at a rate four times higher than that of men, and women of color are leaving at even higher rates.
The highest earner in a household is more often the one who stays in the workforce—and that’s rarely the woman.
