President Biden has garnered comparisons to some of the most transformational presidents in modern American history -- Franklin Roosevelt and Lyndon B. Johnson, just to name a few. But some are delving further into the past and invoking a new comparison: Joe Biden is a modern-day Robin Hood.
President Biden spent his first 100 days in office providing an unapologetically progressive vision for America. He wants to build up our crumbling infrastructure, give back power to working-class unions, and create new social programs that will ease the burden that everyday Americans face in providing care for their families.
And to pay for all these benefits to the poor and middle class, he isn't shying away from his plans to tax the rich.
For far too long in America, the rich have gotten richer while the poor have gotten poorer. President Biden is taking direct aim at the problem with an unapologetic demand that the wealthy start to pay their fair share.
We know that the trickle down economics of the Reagan, Bush, and Trump presidencies were a failure. Income inequality is at historically high levels. Average Americans are struggling to put food on the table and pay rent while billionaires saw their wealth increase by $1.3 trillion just during the pandemic.
In 2022, we need to elect more allies for President Biden to Congress. Democratic majorities are razor thin -- if we lose them next year, the far-right Republicans will do everything they can to undo the progress we've made.
