Here’s a quick breakdown of what Texas Republicans are trying to achieve:

[ 1 ] — It targets Democratic cities and towns specifically. Many of the
provisions exempt Republican rural areas, suburbs, and small towns in
order to target Democratic strongholds in cities like Houston, Austin, San
Antonio, and Dallas and the swing districts that surround them.

[ 2 ] — It actually PUNISHES election officials who don’t purge active
voters and voters who miss an election from the rolls. That way election
officials know the safest way to avoid punishment is to purge as many
voters as possible.

[ 3 ] — It strips Democratic cities of election resources and precinct
placements in order to lengthen the amount of time it takes to vote AND it
gives Republican poll watchers the power to disrupt voting procedures.

This is a power grab in broad daylight and it’s happening in Texas,
Arizona, Georgia, Wisconsin and in states all across the country. If we
don’t fight back, kiss our pro-science majorities in Congress and a
decade’s worth of elections goodbye.
