Dear John, Last week, the Minnesota Senate passed a bill that would ban Ranked Choice Voting in local elections and included measures that would make election day voting more difficult, like provisional balloting and elimination of vouching.
While we expect our democracy champions to reject these provisions, we need to have their back! Add your name and send a clear message that we won’t allow the Senate to take our democracy backward.
Please sign our petition and tell the Senate to stop the ban on RCV!
This anti-democratic measure would ban Ranked Choice Voting in Minnesota and usurp local control, even going so far as to overturn the votes of communities that adopted RCV by ballot measure. This ban is part of a larger effort by the Senate to make voting harder and take our democracy backward. We need 500 more signatures by the end of this week to show that Minnesotans are standing up for democracy and local control. You are right to be upset by these actions, but rest assured, we are continuing our work to build support for RCV statewide. The RCV legislation now has 15 cosponsors in the Senate and 47 authors in the House, more authors than any other bill! It is YOUR advocacy and support that has made this possible.
Thank you for your persistence and advocacy in protecting and advancing RCV in our state.
