Hi John,
The unfolding tragedy in India has mobilised the global community to donate equipment and vaccine doses to help deal with the immediate crisis. And then this weekend, there will be a global concert to raise money to fund vaccines for low income countries.
While donations are appreciated right now to help alleviate immediate human suffering, they alone are not enough and we need to keep up the pressure for sustainable and structural solutions that will help India as well other countries in the global south fight impending second, third and fourth waves of Covid-19.
Please sign our petition to keep up the focus on systemic solutions.

The way to help all countries end this pandemic sooner and to avert the harrowing scenes that we have witnessed in India, is to enable all countries to have access to life-saving vaccines. But we can only do that if there are enough doses. Right now, corporations are defending patents and guarding their know-how and so only a handful of companies can make Covid-19 vaccines.
This artificial scarcity needs to be called out - as the world has become dangerously dependent on a small number of companies for life-saving vaccines that have largely supplied to the rich world.
Call on the government and pharmaceutical corporations to lift patents and share vaccine technology and know-how.

Rich countries and corporations will increasingly talk about donations of doses from rich country stockpiles to divert attention away from systemic changes we need but these donations are just a drop in the ocean in terms of global demand - we need to pull out all stops as a global community to ramp up production.
It has been reported that president Biden has been trying to decide whether to support the proposal to suspend vaccine patents to unblock global production and that his decision could come any day now. Let's use this opportunity before his announcement to pile on the pressure to make sure he does the right thing in this time of crisis.
Thank you for your support.
Best wishes

** Help ensure Covid-19 vaccines are available to everyone, everywhere
------------------------------------------------------------
It’s vitally important that Covid-19 vaccine patents are suspended during the pandemic, and for big pharma to share their know-how globally, as the best way of ensuring there are enough vaccines for everyone everywhere.
Regular gifts give us the long-term stability to plan effective campaigns and the flexibility to respond to crises like these.
