John,
A.G. Holder made a great point on Chris Hayes' MSNBC show: Texas is gaining two House seats largely because of growth in the Latinx and Black populations.
Yet, when Republicans draw the maps, we expect they won't give fair representation to these communities -- rather, they will attempt to give more power to white and Republican communities, as they've done in the past.
Of course it's not just Texas. Republicans will also control the map drawing process in states like North Carolina, Florida, and Georgia and are very unlikely to give fair representation to communities of color -- unless we force them to.
Here's our strategy:
➞ Engage the public in the redistricting process and push for fairness and transparency
➞ Make sure Republicans know they will be held accountable for their actions during redistricting
➞ Support plaintiffs in lawsuits to protect the redistricting process from manipulation
But in our battleground states and across the country, whether we can do it all depends on folks like you. Pitch in now to help us fight for fair representation for every community >>
