Help us stop Israel’s ethnic cleansing in Jerusalem and Palestine Dear Supporter,
As salaamu ‘Alaikum,
As we enter the final days of this holy month of Ramadan, we ask that you recommit your support for our work to advance justice in Palestine. This month we will commemorate the Nakba, the greatest catastrophe that has ever befallen the Palestinian people. It has been more than seven decades since the State of Israel began its institutionalized theft of Palestinian land and its attempted erasure of Palestine and its people. This oppression is not only a historical event; it is an ongoing reality. As we speak, Palestinian families in Sheikh Jarrah are facing forced expulsion from their Jerusalem neighborhood. Families in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Silwan are facing imminent home demolitions. And all across the West Bank, the threat of de facto annexation still looms. More than 2 million people in the Gaza Strip enter 14 years of an inhumane blockade that have devastated their lives. The United States has been always Israel's enabler and this needs to, and can be changed. American Muslims for Palestine has been committed to positively transforming the issue of Palestine in the U.S. for over a decade. And in this time we’ve witnessed a major shift in US public opinion that is increasingly critical of Israel, according to recent polls. We take heart in the growing shift in US public opinion, including among lawmakers, acknowledging that Palestinians deserve their human rights. But we understand that we must double down on our work to make sure we take advantage of these opportunities. In the past couple of months, we have mobilized support for three groundbreaking Congressional letters calling for Israel to provide COVID-19 vaccines to Palestinians under military occupation and an end to Israeli settler-colonialism. And next week we’ll be helping to deliver a petition to the State Department signed by tens of thousands of people protesting Israel’s forced displacement of Palestinians in Jerusalem. As the month of Ramadan embodies hope for humanity, AMP’s work for Palestine represents hope for our blessed cause. In these last few holy nights of Ramadan, help support the struggle for justice in Palestine. Sincerely,
Dr. Hatem Bazian
