Texas must pass this critical life-saving legislation.Â
When passed into law, the Heartbeat Act will END elective abortions after the preborn child’s heartbeat is detectable according to the standard medical practice. Practically, this means most abortions will be prohibited as early as six weeks into pregnancy. Â
The Texas Heartbeat Act is novel in approach, allowing for citizens to hold abortionists accountable through private lawsuits. The bill does not punish women who obtain abortions.
The Texas Senate passed the act on March 30. If amended by the House, the bill will go back to the Senate for final approval, and then to the governor’s desk for signing.
Over the last decade, Texas has plummeted in Pro-Life state rankings to 20th. We must do better!
