When the Supreme Court’s Citizens United decision broke open the floodgates of dark money in politics, I introduced the Disclose Act in the House of Representatives to require super PACs to publicly disclose their big money donors.

The bill passed the House, but lost by just ONE VOTE in the U.S. Senate. It was a painful defeat.

That was 2010. Now, over a decade later, we have an opportunity to finally shine a light on dark money in politics and create a more transparent system for campaign donations.

And that’s not all the For the People Act will do.

This important legislation will put an end to the naked Republican attempt to make it more difficult for people to exercise their right to vote.

In Georgia, Florida, Texas, Arizona and elsewhere across the country Republican voter suppression bills are making their way through state legislatures and the only way to stop them is through federal action — by passing the For The People Act.

It will require everything we’ve got, including grassroots action and pressure — but we must get this done. Click here to show your support for the fight to protect voting rights and to strengthen our democracy >>

In their determined push to win back control of the Congress, Republicans, backed by dark money-funded super PACs, are going to do everything in their power to try to suppress the vote.

We can’t let them get away with this. It’s just too important.

Thank you for staying in the fight to protect our democracy.
