John,
Last week, the chair of the House Elections Committee, without notice and without letting Texans speak at a public hearing, rammed through a voter suppression bill and moved it closer to becoming law. It was a shameless step with little precedent, and it showed just how desperate Republicans are to hold on to power by undermining democracy and making it harder for Texans to vote.
But we have power, too. Let's band together this Saturday and rally to defeat voter suppression.
We are partnering with other pro-voter organizations for rallies in Austin and in Houston this Saturday. You are, of course, invited and we hope you'll be able to join us. Here are the details:
Texans Rally for Our Voting Rights - Austin
Saturday, May 8 @ 11 a.m.
South steps of the Texas Capitol

Voting is fundamental to our democracy, and we can't be silent as lawmakers who fear losing their power create more unnecessary barriers to the ballot box.
Please join us this Saturday. Do it for democracy!
Onward,
