Comrades,

Tonight is set to be a reckoning at city council. Will our representatives listen to the voices in their communities that have called for accountability for the police, or will they allow business as usual to continue to sweep issues aside in the city?

Two major agenda items are being discussed at today's meeting. Sacramento DSA opposes City Manager pay raise, and joins Councilmember Katie Valenzuela in support of the Police Review Commission’s use of force policy recommendation.

We are joining community activists to tell the City Council to reject a 21% raise for City Manager Howard Chan, whose failure to hold police accountable and negligence towards our unhoused neighbors has cost lives.

Additionally, we are joining Katie Valenzuela in telling City Council that lethal force as a last resort is the bare minimum, and to delay no further in implementing the recommendations of the Sacramento Community Police Review Commission.
