Friend,
None of us would be where we are today without our teachers. Today on National Teacher Day, we honor the educators in our lives and the lasting contributions they have made.
As the beneficiary of public education from elementary through law school, and as the mother of two children who attend Loudoun County Public Schools, I believe that supporting teachers means paying them what they deserve, properly funding public schools, and making the cost of the higher education more affordable so that teachers' valiant efforts on behalf of their students have the most impact.
As part of the American Families Plan, President Biden has proposed critical investments in public education. These include billions in teacher training and hiring (especially to increase the number of teachers of color), universal pre-K, and free community college for two years.
A robust public education system is one where our teachers will get the compensation and working environment that they deserve. So on National Teacher Day, I can think of no better way to honor our teachers than push for the American Families Plan to become law.
Please join me and sign our petition urging Congress to pass the American Families Plan as soon as possible.
Thank you,
Jennifer
