Today, a major bill is being heard that would create a public health insurance option for the state of Nevada, SB420! With Nearly 1 in 9 Nevadans living without health insurance, and countless workers who lost their insurance during the pandemic, this bill would create an affordable, high-quality health insurance option that competes with private plans to drive down overall healthcare costs. This fantastic legislation is sponsored by Senate Majority Leader Nicole Cannizzaro, who is leading the effort to insure more Nevadans, drive down costs, improve maternal health, and give businesses and rural communities more health care options.

The only problem? The health insurance industry is not too keen on having their skyrocketing prices and stranglehold on the market challenged. They’re flooding the Nevada Legislature opinion poll with negative comments on SB420 and are gearing up to oppose the bill at tonight’s hearing on the bill, starting at 3:30PM. 

Here’s how you can help support SB420 today: 

• Leave positive comment in favor of SB420 to create a state public health insurance option in Nevada. Simply find ‘SB420’ from the drop-down menu, click the ‘in favor’ button and fill out your comment and information.
• Register to testify in support of SB420 during the committee hearing TODAY at 3:30PM. Complete the form and follow the instructions to call in and voice your support for the Nevada Public Option. 

Nevadans overwhelmingly support a public health insurance option across party lines. It’s time to call on the Nevada legislature to support healthcare and not wealthcare, by passing SB420.
