Friend, how many robocalls have you gotten in the past week? If you're anything like me, you're sick of getting these day in and day out. But the relentless robocalls are more than just annoying – they are actually hurting folks across the country.
I'm serious. Invasive, scam-laden robocalls are impacting an alarming amount of our family, friends and neighbors: In fact, USA Today reports that 3 out of 4 Americans received robocalls last year, losing an average of $182 to scammers.
No one should be scammed out of their hard-earned money. Period. That's why we need to up the ante when it comes to holding these illegal actors accountable – which is exactly what I intend to do.
I've introduced legislation in the Senate that will increase penalties for robocall scammers: $20,000 per violation and a whopping $2 million fine on the people organizing illegal robocall campaigns.
I'm fighting to stop these scammers from disrupting the lives of the American people – but getting this sort of law passed takes grassroots support, so I'm counting on 1,000 members of this team to share their support before midnight tonight. Please, will you speak out now?
