Impeachment Saga Delays Bipartisan USMCA

This week, I penned an op-ed for Fox Business as Washington Democrats drag their feet on the popular, job-creating United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) while instead devoting the House’s time and resources to a baseless impeachment inquiry. 

The USMCA is estimated to create 176,000 jobs, raise GDP by $68.2 billion, and "have a positive impact on all broad industry sectors within the U.S. economy."

Providing Disaster Relief to Southeast Louisiana Fisheries

Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico are home to some of the best fisheries in the world, and the fisheries industry supports families and local communities across Southeast Louisiana. With the announcement that Louisiana will be eligible for NOAA fisheries disaster assistance, we can continue to mitigate the impacts on the commercial seafood and recreational fishing industries related to the openings of the Bonnet Carre Spillway in 2019. I applaud Secretary Ross for his commitment to the health of our fisheries, which are critical to ensuring the sustainability of Louisiana’s seafood industry, our world-class restaurants and our local communities.

Speaking to Students at Academy Day

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to speak with high school students attending Academy Day as they learn about each of the five service academies: the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. Our service academies are an excellent opportunity to receive a post-secondary education and serve our country at the same time. It was a pleasure to see several interested students join us to learn more about the service academies.
