One year ago, a gunman with an assault weapon senselessly murdered 22 people in the province of Nova Scotia, Canada – making it the deadliest rampage in Canadian history. Twelve days after this horrific mass shooting, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau took immediate action and implemented a ban on military-style assault weapons.

Trudeau honored the victims of this senseless violence with action – and yet after multiple, high-profile mass shootings in the United States in the last month alone, we have still seen no action from our lawmakers to ban these weapons of war.

We need fearless political leadership in this moment. And we cannot allow the NRA to stop life-saving legislation from becoming law.
