John,

New York City, just like every city in America, deserves a Democrat who will fight for everyone, a leader with an inclusive progressive vision for change who will work day in and day out to make that progressive change a reality.

That’s why Andrew Yang’s recent interview with the New York Post's Editorial Board where he said he would be a cheerleader for a recovery for New York City while other people would manage the day-to-day operations of running the city is so concerning.

It is part of a pattern of history with Andrew Yang where he over-promises and under-delivers.

Delivering on a promise of change requires the ability to manage difficult tasks every day, not just cheerleading while other people do the hard work.

That’s why DFA has proudly endorsed Maya Wiley in New York City’s mayoral race.

Maya is no stranger to hard work, from her time as a leader in city government to her work holding police accountable as Chair of the Civilian Complaint Review Board, Maya Wiley has what it takes to manage the day-to-day operations of being Mayor.

Maya Wiley is fighting for racial justice, taking on the climate crisis, and creating affordable housing, but she cannot do it alone.

That's where we come in. Like most DFA members, I can't vote for this incredible leader where I live, but I can make a contribution today -- right now -- and help fund everything Maya Wiley needs to build a winning campaign. Please join me with a split contribution to Maya Wiley and DFA to make sure that we build progressive power everywhere.

While running Venture For America, Yang made big promises to create 100,000 jobs, but in reality, he only created 150.

That outcome really isn’t too surprising when you consider that a former Venture for America employee told the New York Times that Yang “couldn’t be bothered to actually focus on the details.”

From not actually focusing on the details while running Venture for America to planning to have other people manage the day-to-day operations of being Mayor, Andrew Yang has a history of talking a big game but failing to do what it takes to follow through.

As DFA endorsed candidate Maya Wiley has put it, "New York is not another startup where Andrew Yang can play with other people's money and fail up.”

Maya Wiley is a leader who has spent years on the frontlines of some of our biggest fights, both inside City Hall and outside it. She knows that building New York City back from the pandemic will require outside-the-box thinking, taking on the status quo, and challenging systemic inequities head-on.

Maya is building a true people-powered campaign, which means she’s counting on support from grassroots progressives.

Will you make a contribution to Maya’s campaign and DFA today to help elect a new progressive leader for New York City?
