When Rachel’s family is healthy and happy, so is she.

Mother's Day 2021 ([link removed] )

Dear JOhn,

Stories of resilience begin with a meal – and so often, they begin with the person who prepares it. For two-year-old Denis, it starts with a mom ([link removed] ) .

Rachel, Denis’s mom, participates in the Reaching Children’s Potential program in Tanzania. Rachel receives access to fresh, local veggies to supplement the Rise Against Hunger meals she cooks at least once daily for her family. Rise Against Hunger meals – along with vegetable soup – are Denis’s favorite ([link removed] ) !

As a first time mom, Rachel receives early childhood advice that neither she nor her own parents had access to before:

“Now I play with my child, talk to him, teach him games and show him a happy face. I can say my child is my friend. When we were young, our parents were not able to raise us in [a] friendly way because they didn’t receive this education, but I’m doing this with my child and I hope the generation after me will also learn from me.”

Rachel also learned how to implement a hand washing station at her home and will continue to receive educational support to encourage health, hygiene, nutrition and cognition through Denis’s 18th birthday ([link removed] ) .

Especially through Denis’s first 1,000 days, Rachel is empowered to nourish her family: “All in all, Rise Against Hunger meals have been very helpful to me because I always feel stronger when I eat the food and my child’s health is great.”

This Mother’s Day, we’re lifting up moms worldwide. Moms who face challenges. Moms who work hard for their families’ futures. Moms who find happiness when their children are healthy ([link removed] ) .

Celebrate mom-power ([link removed] ) with us! Support a mom facing hunger today for a brighter future for her family tomorrow ([link removed] ) .

It starts with a mom,
