The right-wing media machine is already starting to spin lies about Democratic politicians as we get ready for the 2022 elections. The latest target? Vice President Kamala Harris.
Last week, the New York Post published a story about the vice president claiming that copies of a children's book she wrote were being given to undocument minors in the custody of Customs and Border Patrol.
That story turned out to be completely false and was retracted by the Post several days after publishing. The author tweeted that she had been forced to write the article by her superiors and ultimately quit her job there.
The most insidious part of the whole story? The New York Post is owned by none other than Rupert Murdoch, the billionaire founder of News Corporation. Murdoch is also co-chairman for Fox News.
It's clear that far-right propaganda outlets run by Murdoch aren't going anywhere, and they will continue to provide cover to Republicans who want to misinform and confuse voters. Murdoch's rags will run smear campaigns that Democrats across the country need to be prepared to fight back against.
