Team, our goal was simple: address the affordability crisis happening in every corner of our state. That means creating real solutions to fix huge systemic issues such as:
- Establishing a $1 billion tax credit to lift working families out of poverty;
- Creating a pathway to higher education by making community college tuition-free for the next two years;
- Building a program to combat teacher shortage by giving our educators the tools needed for their important work;
- Fund programs and assistance for legal aid and protection to immigrants, and so much more.
This budget is a reflection of our priorities and values — what we’re building for ourselves, our children, and each other. That’s what we’re all about as Californians: coming together despite our differences to protect progress, demand equality, and preserve freedom.
With all our success so far, we need to keep our momentum higher than before. I believe to build a better tomorrow, we have got to sustain our progress today. But I can’t achieve that alone: I need the strength of this powerful team to show that when we fight hard, we succeed.
