We are coming up on the one year anniversary of George Floyd’s murder. And while his murderer was found guilty in a court of law, too many other Black and Brown folks don’t get that kind of accountability from our justice system.
There are too many more stories like George Floyd’s or Breonna Taylor’s that we haven’t heard. And every single one is a tragedy.
That’s why I am calling on my Senate colleagues to pass the George Floyd Justice in Policing Act before the one year anniversary of Floyd’s murder. It has already passed the House of Representatives, now it’s up to us.
I will not accept that in the United States of America, Black men and women are still being killed by police officers without judge or jury. We have to do better.
This can’t be considered normal anymore.
All my best,
Tammy Duckworth
