John -- you have to see what A.G. Holder told The New York Times about the Republican attacks on voting rights:
"This is more than a partisan ‘who wins and who loses?’ game. The stakes are the condition of our democracy.
If we are not successful in [passing the For the People Act or the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act], I am really worried our democracy will be fundamentally and irreparably harmed.
We will still have elections every two years or every four years, but they could almost be rendered close to meaningless." |

Let that sink in for a second. It's a frightening thought, I know -- but A.G. Holder is absolutely right that we could lose our democracy if we aren't successful in blocking these Republican attacks.
So we're not sitting back. We're fighting, just like we have been for the last four years, to stop the GOP’s voter suppression bills, end antidemocratic practices like gerrymandering, and pass the For the People Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act.
But whether we are successful depends on whether the Democratic grassroots base is truly with us.
