Facebook’s business model incentivizes radicalization, enflaming hate and disinformation to bolster their bottom line -- and if their quarterly earnings are any indication, it’s working for them.
‌ ‌

Last week, Facebook announced its first quarter earnings -- and the number is SHOCKING.

In the first quarter of this year, Facebook made $26 BILLION.

But let's be clear what they are profiting off: extremism, hate, discrimination, and disinformation -- all which incited the January 6th Capitol insurrection. Watch and share our new video on Facebook’s business model and how they’re propping up their bottom line by incentivizing radicalization.

Facebook’s own internal report obtained by Buzzfeed and released last week proves they knew about the violent extremism in Facebook groups that would lead to the attempted coup at the Capitol -- and they did not stop it. Worse, they continued to profit from targeted advertising to users interested in alt-right mainstays like “militias,” long after they banned militia groups from the platform.

Facebook’s business model incentivizes radicalization, enflaming hate and disinformation to bolster their bottom line -- and if their quarterly earnings are any indication, it’s working for them.

And they’re not alone. The Big 5 Tech companies income is now roughly the equivalent of the GDP of Mexico -- so why would they stop? Simply: they’ll only stop if they’re forced to stop -- which is why we have to ban surveillance advertising now.

We can’t rely on Big tech to regulate themselves -- they need real regulation and accountability. Watch and share our new video with your friends and followers now to make sure we’re all on the same page: We must ban surveillance advertising now.

From vaccine disinformation to violent extremism, Facebook has failed to self-regulate its platform in pursuit of maximizing engagement and profit.

It's time for meaningful regulations and accountability.

Thanks for fighting with us,

We recognize the irony of urging you to take action on the dominant social media platforms we’re fighting to hold accountable, but they are… well… dominant. We must reach people where they are in order to level the playing field.
