Greetings from the nation’s capital, where President Joe Biden gave his first speech to Congress last week—a speech that suffered from multiple failings, as Heritage experts explain. Our experts aren’t overly impressed with the advice coming from the CDC about masks, either. Nor are they fans of the woefully mislabeled and dangerously misguided “Fairness for All Act.” You can read more about these issues in this week’s Agenda. And there are webinars, podcasts, and more to check out as well.
Heritage Scholars Shred Biden’s Divisive Address to Congress <[link removed]>
To hear
President Joe Biden tell it in his address to Congress last week, socialist policies are and have been the answer to all societal woes, from the economy and health care to election integrity, gun violence, and more. Fortunately, Heritage Foundation scholars weighed in on Biden’s points in real-time to cut through the “alternative facts” <[link removed]> and wishful thinking and give us all the truth <[link removed]> of the issues in question. “The president claims that he wants to unite Americans, not divide them. Well, that is a lie. A ‘lie’ is an ugly term, but it is the only one that applies,” writes Heritage’s senior legal research fellow Paul Larkin Jr. Read Larkin and other Heritage experts’ full takes on Biden’s address at The Daily Signal, Heritage’s news outlet <[link removed]>.
Unmasking the Truth Behind the CDC’s Mask Mandates <[link removed]>
How reliable are government declarations
that mask mandates prevent the spread of COVID-19? Well, recent experiences with researchers from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention are enough to cause reasonable doubt, according to the director of Heritage’s Center for Data Analysis, Norbert Michel, and Heritage visiting fellow Doug Badger. “Unfortunately, throughout the pandemic, scientific facts have meant little. While many facts were unknown when the disease first took hold in the United States, a great deal of the evidence <[link removed]> was quite clear by May,” Michel and Badger write in their latest
commentary. Read the full commentary to find out just how reliable the CDC has proven to be <[link removed]>.
The True Message of the Fairness for All Act: ‘Submit, or Else’ <[link removed]>
With the
so-called Equality Act languishing in the Senate, some lawmakers have proposed an alternative—the Fairness for All Act—as the kinder, gentler version. It is not, according to Heritage legal fellow Sarah Perry. “Fairness for All does not ensure fairness,” she writes. “Instead, it grants special privileges and imposes a unitary, politically correct, legally enforceable set of beliefs about sexuality and gender on all private actors.” Read the full commentary to find out exactly what the Fairness for All Act would implement <[link removed]>.
