I had a great week working hard in Congress and back home
in the District. I’m grateful to be your voice in committee
meetings and on the House Floor, protecting you against radical leftist
policies that would crush our rural way of life. Here’s what
I’ve been working on:
Bringing Attention to the Crisis at the
Southern Border
I
couldn’t let President Biden get away with not mentioning the
crisis he created at the Southern Border during his address to
Congress, so I forced the media to cover it by wearing the same kind of Mylar
blanket that the Biden administration is giving to the record-setting
18,000 unaccompanied minors that came over the border last month. When
children are sleeping in tin foil blankets, that’s a
crisis.
Biden’s lack of leadership is
disappointing, and I will continue to hold him accountable. Instead of developing
a real plan, he punted responsibility to his Vice President, who
hasn’t even visited the border in the nearly 40 days since she was
appointed “border czar.” The crisis so bad, that they
won’t even let the media visit the border. Since Biden, Harris, and
the media won’t visit the border to see the situation firsthand,
I brought it to them.
I
will continue to stand for real leadership, real
policies that work, and real accountability. It’s time to
restart construction on the wall, demand that Biden and Harris visit
the border, and put a stop to amnesty and other policies that
incentivize this crisis.
Protecting Energy and Natural Resources
Jobs
During this
week’s Natural Resources Committee markup, I stood up for rural
Colorado’s natural resources and energy workers. While the left would
rather outsource our mining overseas, I want to keep these good-paying
jobs and environmentally conscious mining operations here. I
introduced an amendment to a Democrat anti-mining bill to require the
government to ensure that slave labor isn’t increased if we outsource
critical mineral mining to the Congo, China, and other countries that
lack the basic protections that we have in America.
Additionally, I introduced an amendment to
nullify President Biden’s job-killing Green New Deal executive
orders that halt oil and gas leasing on federal lands.
Expanding the
Second Amendment
I was proud to co-sponsor Congressman Thomas Massie’s SAFER
Voter Act, or the Second Amendment For Every Registrable Voter Act,
since I believe that if you are old enough to vote, be drafted into the
military, and be treated as an adult, you are old enough to own a
handgun. The bill would reduce the minimum age at which a person can obtain
a handgun from a federal firearms licensed dealer from 21 to
18.
Opposing a Liberal Takeover of the Bureau of Land
Management
Along with Chairman of
the Freedom Caucus, Congressman Andy Biggs, I led a letter signed by
nine Representatives opposing the confirmation of Tracy Stone-Manning
as the director of the Bureau of Land Management. As senior advisor at
the National Wildlife Federation, Stone-Manning made clear her biting
hostility towards the Bureau’s move to Grand Junction,
private-public land leasing partnerships, and responsible energy
development.
My primary goal remains
to get states and community members to have more of a say in the land
management decisions that impact their daily lives, which is why I will
continue to oppose Stone-Manning’s confirmation. Her
radical opposition to energy development and the Bureau’s efforts to
improve community relationships run counter to the land stewardship
principles that are rural Colorado’s foundation.
Serving
Constituents
My
office has been working hard serving the people of Colorado’s
Third Congressional District, and we have helped nearly 200 constituents
navigate the bureaucracy and resolve issues with the federal
government. In total, we have been able to return over $130,000 to the
District, and we are helping more veterans, taxpayers, farmers, and families
throughout the District every day. If you need help with a federal
agency, let me know!
Bringing my Office to You!
The Third Congressional District is
nearly 50,000 square miles and 48% of the entire state of Colorado.
Living in rural Colorado, I know how hard it can be to get around, so I
am bringing my office to you. My favorite part about my job is
serving people, so if you have issues with a
federal agency, want to voice your opinion on upcoming
legislation, or share your story with my office, please come out to one
of our mobile offices and we will be happy to meet with you.
