Friend --

Be sure to come to our General Membership Meeting on Saturday, May 8th at 11AM! We'll be voting on two different endorsements - Denzel McCampbell for Detroit City Clerk, and the Detroit City Charter Revision. We'll also be voting for our National Convention Delegates as well.

Be sure to join DSA if you'd like to vote on any of these endorsements or on our delegates. Don't miss this great opportunity to help decide our chapter's electoral work and how we're represented nationally!

Now that the Detroit city budget fight is over (details on the results coming soon), our chapter's Defund the Police campaign is shifting focus to the Detroit city charter revision ballot initiative that Detroiters will vote on in August. A vote on an official chapter endorsement of this ballot initiative will be brought before membership at the General Meeting on May 8. Please read the detailed proposal HERE or the summary HERE and reply to this email if you are interested in getting involved in the campaign!

"For more than a century, the first of May has been a day of celebration, remembrance, and activism for workers around the world. On Saturday, May 1 this year, the Metro Detroit DSA joins comrades from DSA chapters across the country to militate for passage of the PRO Act, currently before the Senate." - "Metro Detroit DSA Takes Part in National May Day Effort", by Vince Carducci and Jason Krzysiak

Detroit DSA is a 1200+ member funded organization. We receive no money from outside sources so we can say things like "Defund the Police" and "Abolish ICE" without losing funding, and we will always act democratically in the interests of our members and the working class! If you're able to, we ask that you make monthly contributions as they more directly benefit our chapter. Thank you for whatever amount you're able to contribute!

If you think your dues are out of date, renew your dues here: dsausa.org/join and use the email address currently associated with your DSA membership.

If you're unsure whether your dues are up to date, reach out to [email protected] to check!
