Protect the Endangered Florida Panther from Big Oil

The fossil fuel industry is pushing for more oil and gas development in the Big Cypress National Preserve, which is next to the Everglades National Park and home to the critically endangered Florida panther. Already pushed to the brink of extinction by residential development and traffic—with only an estimated 200 remaining in the world—Florida’s state animal could be completely wiped out if its habitat is not protected. Members of the Miccosukee Tribe of Indians of Florida and the Seminole Tribe of Florida have also raised concerns about how oil drilling would impact tribal lands and their way of life in the area, not to mention the damage that could be inflicted on the hundreds of known cultural and archaeological resources in Big Cypress. Tell Interior Secretary Deb Haaland to protect Big Cypress from further destruction.
