This is a HUGE victory! Citizens of Lubbock, Texas, voted today to make their town a Sanctuary City for the Unborn!
This means that abortion will be illegal in the town. Lubbock is by far the LARGEST city yet to pass this life-saving ordinance.
Pro-Life citizens like you petitioned the Lubbock City Council to pass an ordinance making the community a Sanctuary City for the Unborn. Despite the calls from activists and locals, and the announcement that Planned Parenthood would begin committing abortions in 2021 within Lubbock city limits, the mayor and city council torpedoed the effort.
Still, Pro-Life Lubbockites persisted, and they gathered enough petition signatures to have a referendum on the ordinance during this local election.
Lubbock is the largest town in a growing movement of Texas communities, now numbering 23, to prohibit abortion within city limits.
The Sanctuary City for the Unborn ordinance that passed today is pertinent and enforceable, challenging Planned Parenthood’s presence within Lubbock. Abortionists will be liable to civil lawsuits and criminal penalties upon the reversal of Roe v. Wade. Under this ordinance, women who may be seeking abortions are protected from any penalties and are in no way criminally or civilly liable.
Friend, this Pro-Life victory is thanks to YOU! Activists, local leaders, and Lubbock citizens shepherded the Pro-Life policy across the finish line. Senator Charles Perry (R-Lubbock), Raiders Defending Life, Mark Lee Dickson, and so many others were instrumental in this effort.
Now, let's continue our work to end abortion statewide. With one month left in the 87th Legislature, Texas lawmakers still have time to build on this Pro-Life win. Ask your state officials to pass Pro-Life Priority Bills here ([link removed]) .
