Happy May Day! Today is when we join together to celebrate the success of the international labor and workers’ rights movement.
The labor movement has given us so much, such as the 40 hour work week, child labor protections, and the minimum wage. Unions are how workers use their democratic voices to win higher wages, better benefits, and better working conditions. When we empower unions, we empower working people.
I know how being a member of a union can provide economic stability. When I was growing up, my parents’ union helped us to stay afloat during tough times. When so many Virginians face food insecurity, eviction, and medical and student debt, they deserve the security of a union.
That’s why today I’m sharing my platform for lifting up Virginia’s multi-racial working class.
I’m running for Lt. Governor to fight for the prosperity of every Virginian, and my progressive platform reflects that.
In order to keep fighting against powerful special interests, I need your help. I don’t take any money from corporations: can you pitch in $3 to help me bring a progressive, people-centered vision to statewide office in Virginia? »
We can create a stronger, more resilient economy by empowering workers. As Lt. Governor, I’ll be the advocate-in-chief for workers’ rights. I hope I can count on your support so we can win this election and turn this platform into reality.
