Women's March

Happy May, John.

We have an exciting announcement to share today:

Between International Workers Day on May 1st and Mothers Day on May 9th, Women's March will host May Days: A collection of various organizing actions that focus on building power for women to fuel our feminist future. In honor of today's big launch, will you chip in $3 to help get us started off strong?

The last year has made it urgently clear that Congress must pass policies that ensure women can survive AND thrive beyond this pandemic. Women are experiencing the worst effects of the COVID-19 recession. As President Biden noted in his joint address to Congress, over 3 million women dropped out of the workforce. Women, especially women of color, have been impacted the most by wage cuts, layoffs, loss of health insurance due to unemployment, and increasing child care costs.

Women all across the country are being expected to do it all — work, child care, chores, virtual schooling — and we're on the brink. That’s why we’re putting together various organizing actions this month to make sure women's voices are heard.

It takes significant resources and planning to launch an event campaign like this one. In honor of today's kick-off of our May Days action campaign, can you donate $3 to help power this work and help us fight for the transformative policies women need right now?

We can't forget this, John: The challenges women face in this pandemic aren't new.

This pandemic has exacerbated the long-time problems women in our country face, the disparities that have formed from an economy that puts profits over people, and the broken systems that are supposed to protect the most vulnerable.

The majority of essential workers and caregivers in our lives who carried us through this pandemic are women. They should be recognized, compensated, and supported as such. But instead, wage workers are still saddled with a minimum wage of $7.25, rents are increasing, evictions are looming, jobs are lost, and health care bills stack up. While an increasing number of women have been plunged into debt, chaos, and grief, billionaires have only lined their pockets.

This past year has been an urgent reminder that we must continue fighting toward a feminist future. A feminist future is a future that works for everyone — the millions of us who have been denied a seat at the table in the form of good clean jobs, affordable health care, a chance to grow up outside the threat of state violence, affordable childcare, and good schools.

We must continue coming together as a movement to demand the change we need and deserve. We’re so excited to launch the May Days actions campaign today — if you're ready to show your support in this fight, can you make a donation today to fund our organizing work? We'll be in touch later today with more details about all the ways you can get involved, but if you can afford to chip in $3 or more to get us started, it'd mean so much.

Together,

Women’s March

P.S. Pulling off a large-scale organizing campaign like the May Days action campaign we're launching today requires a lot of planning, time, and resources. This is the kind of important, women-led work that Women's March is proud to be focusing our efforts on in 2021, so will you donate $3 or anything you can to help get this big campaign off the ground?
