The Weldon Amendment allows hospitals, insurance companies, and individual healthcare professionals to deny people care by refusing to provide, pay for, cover, or refer for abortion and is intended to undermine efforts by state and local governments to protect and expand abortion access. Denials of care are based in extreme anti-choice ideology. These policies have no place in the doctor’s office — and should never determine whether we can access abortion care.
