Africa & Europe
- Praise God for the launch of My Story Counts, a youth survivor network in Ghana. Made up primarily of children who have survived abuses like trafficking, the group empowers survivors by creating opportunities for them to advocate against child trafficking, provides tools to pursue justice for themselves and creates a safe space for sharing their stories and recommendations to improve anti-trafficking programs. Pray for bravery, strength and peace as these young people come together to support one another and enact change in their communities.
Latin America
- Continue praying for protection and health for IJM staff and our trained partners in Guatemala. As many of them travel nationally to attend in-person hearings and carry out other key program activities, pray that God will keep everyone safe. Pray also for wisdom for the Guatemalan authorities who are working on a plan to distribute vaccines.
South Asia
- Please continue to cover the South Asia COVID-19 surges in your prayers. The situation has become quite severe, and many IJM staff and families are affected. Pray that hospitals would have all the resources they need. Pray for courage for IJM staff and partners. Pray that the survivors we serve would stay safe, and that victims still trapped in slavery would not experience an increase in violence. Pray for our relationships with government leaders so we can help them serve the community well in this time of dire need.
Southeast Asia
- Pray for IJM's Center to End Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC) Scale of Harm Project, which measures the prevalence of OSEC. Pray that we receive positive responses for pending invitations from the External Advisory Council (EAC), close partners who serve as advisors as we attempt to find a new methodology. Pray for wisdom, creativity and resourcefulness as the team prepares for the first EAC meeting on May 20.
