Coronavirus Update: Ward 3's Walk-Up Vaccination Site
Dear Neighbors,
Tomorrow, May 1st, the District is launching eleven free walk-up vaccination clinics across the District. Ward 3's walk-up vaccination site is the former Walgreens located at 4225 Connecticut Ave in the Forest Hills neighborhood. This vaccination site, which sits on University of the District of Columbia (UDC) property, is right outside the Van Ness Metro and is serviced by multiple nearby bus lines. After having advocated for a UDC-based vaccination site for some time now, I am particularly grateful to Mayor Bowser and the team at DC Health for answering the community's call for more accessible vaccination opportunities in Ward 3.
Here are some important updates to keep in mind:
UDC Vaccination Site Schedule – The UDC walk-up vaccination site is distributing the Moderna vaccine. For its first day of operation, May 1st, the site will operate from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. Afterward, this site will shift to a 9:00 am to 2:00 pm schedule and will open on select days in May (May 5th, 6th, 12th, 14th, 19th, and the 20th).
If You Received Your First Dose Out of State - Residents who received their first vaccine dose in another jurisdiction will be able to receive their second dose at the District's walk-up clinics. Availability may vary day to day, so please note which sites are distributing your particular vaccine by checking the walk-up site schedule (linked here and posted below).
For Our Homebound Neighbors - The District has launched an at-home vaccination program for our homebound neighbors and initial feedback on the program has been very positive! Please help spread the news to your family, friends, and neighbors that homebound residents may schedule an at-home vaccination appointment by calling 1-855-363-0333.
To date, 64% of Ward 3 seniors and 26% of all eligible Ward 3 residents are vaccinated. District-wide, about 34% of residents are fully or partially vaccinated. By shifting away from the pre-registration portal system and instead opening numerous walk-up clinics, I am hopeful that we will see even more progress in our immunization efforts and an increase in equitable vaccine access across the District. And, if you would like to help share vaccination information and encourage others to make a vaccination plan, please join Serve DC and the COVID-19 Community Corps for this weekend's door-to-door Day of Action event (details: here).
Regards,
Mary
