I’m in awe of the progress we’ve made JUST THIS MONTH.

On Wednesday night, in his first address to Congress since taking office, President Biden unveiled his American Families Plan, which includes funding Universal Pre-K and a comprehensive federal paid family and medical leave program. That speech came just weeks after President Biden unveiled the American Jobs Plan, which includes $400 Billion for Home and Community Based Services.

We can’t thank you enough for how much your generosity and activism has carried us to this pivotal moment in history. Our demands for support are finally being heard.

But there’s still so much work to do – we need your help to ensure that BOTH bills are passed!

That’s not all that happened this month. After we launched the CARE CAN’T WAIT Coalition with our partners in March, we hosted the CARE CAN’T WAIT Summit, featuring special guests like NFL star and caregiver Devon Still and disability rights activist Ady Barkan — not to mention Vice President Kamala Harris and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi!

When Ai-jen Poo and Sarita Gupta co-founded Caring Across Generations ten years ago, they sought to transform the way care is seen and valued in America. Supporters like you have been with us from the beginning. And it’s thanks to you that we’re making this incredible progress.

With your support, over the past ten years Caring Across shifted our strategic and legislative focus towards building a care infrastructure that would address all the protections families needed to provide and receive care over the course of a lifetime. We were making progress and our ideas were gaining traction! And then came the pandemic in early 2020.

COVID-19 exposed what all caregivers have already known for many years – that everything comes down to care. Our broken care system made the pandemic worse and left millions unable to provide for the ones they love. That’s why we launched the CARE CAN’T WAIT Coalition: because it’s clear that we can’t wait for another pandemic to finally change the way America cares.
