Hi Friend, did you see this?
Dr. Brailey has already said everything you need to know, so I’ll keep this short. The Republican assault on our voting rights is relentless. But our movement is louder, stronger, and on the side of justice.
We’ve got just a few more hours to power our voting rights efforts before our end-of-month fundraising deadline. In May, this is going to come to a showdown -- and we’ve got to make sure we’re ready to raise hell in the Texas legislature. Friend, will you rush $7 to our Voter Protection Fund before our midnight deadline tonight?

Subject: resilience is power
Hi Friend,
A couple weeks ago, I wrote to you about how Republicans are trying to slash our right to vote -- and the white supremacy behind those actions, from Texas to Georgia.
One month later, Republicans are still attacking us. And they’re being even sneakier about it. Yesterday, Rep. Briscoe Cain forced voter suppression bill SB 7 one step closer to becoming law -- without legislators even having a chance to read the bill in its new version, and with no chance for Texans to speak up about how this will harm us.
Republicans know their voter suppression bills are racist and toxic -- so they’re trying to rush them through without anybody holding them accountable.
But Friend, they’re failing -- because of us. This movement has rallied, day after day, to defend our right to vote. You’ve called your representatives. You’ve driven hours to speak out at the Capitol. And most importantly, you’ve been there for each other -- and built our resilience together.
Our resilience is our power. And if we keep showing up for each other, we will win this fight. Friend, will you show up today, and chip in $7 to our Voter Protection Fund before our critical end-of-month midnight deadline?

Earlier this month, Mary Jane Mudd, the president of the non-partisan Houston League of Women Voters, reminded us what it took for women to gain the right to vote. She said:
“Over a hundred years ago, women were jailed, they marched, they were beaten, they were put into mental institutions only because they wanted to vote. The 19th Amendment was ratified and that was incredible, but as many of us know, that wasn’t the case for women of color. It took years before they would have the right. Women have come so far.”
Today, we are once again being forced to fight for our right to vote. And as infuriating as that is, we are fighting back with the same determination. Advocates, legislators, activists, community members -- all of us are speaking with one unified voice to protect our right to vote.
Chip in $7 to add your voice today: [link removed]
