Based on the 2020 Census, California, despite adding 2 million new residents since the 2010 Census, is losing a House seat and Electoral College vote for the first time since its admission to the Union in 1850. Despite this, California will continue to model multi-racial, participatory, and open democracy and racially just representation with its independent redistricting process.
