Datasets now available: Annual Survey of Jails in Indian Country, 2017 and 2018

The Bureau of Justice Statistics has released datasets on Indian Country jail statistics through the National Archive of Criminal Justice Data. These surveys collected data on–

  • the number of adults and juveniles held
  • type of offense
  • average daily population
  • most crowded day
  • admissions and releases
  • number of inmate deaths and suicide attempts
  • rated capacity
  • jail staffing.
