Hi John,
I'm running against Republican Madison Cawthorn to represent NC-11 in Congress, and I’m writing today to ask for your support.
My team is closing in on our End-of-Month donor goal—but I’m going to need your help to hit it. Can I count on you to chip in a split donation with my campaign and Turnout Democrats so we can grow this grassroots campaign and win? >>
I’ve spent my life overturning expectations, bridging divides, and never accepting that what has been is how it always must be. I am an ordained minister who has organized for marriage equality all over the Deep South—and won. Together with my wife Meghann, I’m raising three kids in the heart of Western North Carolina, a community that I love and I know deserves better than our current representation.
I’ve heard “it’s too difficult” and “that just won’t work” many times over the years, and I know what it’s like to be counted out. And I know a lot of people across our region have heard the same message their whole lives.
When I watched my Republican congressman, Madison Cawthorn, betray our democracy by helping to incite a violent mob on the morning of January 6th—after previously trafficking in conspiracy theories and encouraging supporters to threaten elected officials—he showed the world he wasn’t fit to serve in Congress.
I’m in this race because I know we can beat Madison Cawthorn; and we can do it the same way I’ve organized for change my whole life.
When I ran for County Commission, I was told over and over that I couldn’t win. But I did. Twice.
For the last four years I’ve served as a County Commissioner alongside three fellow Democrats and three Republicans. I’m proud to have worked with fellow Commissioners to find common ground and lead efforts to pass major pre-K funding and opioid addiction initiatives with 6-1 and 7-0 votes.
Madison Cawthorn believes that divisive rhetoric and empty promises are his path to power. He’s flirting with fascism and trying to take NC-11 with him.
But that’s not who we are in Western North Carolina. And I know there’s another path. A path that leads away from hateful rhetoric and fear-mongering and toward empathy, love, and respect. That’s why I’m building a campaign that’s focused not on trading blows with Madison Cawthorn—but instead on winning for the people of NC-11.
People want real results that improve their lives, and I have the experience running on pressing issues, winning against the odds, organizing everywhere and delivering for the people. That’s how we’ll win this district.
I know we can get this done. But I’m also a realist and it’s going to take an enormous amount of resources to pull this off.
At every turning point in my life, people have told me “you can’t.” But I’ve never backed down when it comes to working for what’s right and just, and this race is no different. This is a turning point for Western North Carolina, and I’m asking you to join me.
We need 500 more donors to chip in a split donation between my campaign and Turnout Democrats to hit our End-of-Month goals. Will you be one of them?
Thanks,
Jasmine Beach-Ferrara Democrat for Congress North Carolina’s 11th District
