Hi John,

It’s Emma, Lauren’s finance director. I’m going to get straight to the point: we’re behind on our April fundraising goal and I’m reaching out to ask you to make a donation to help close the gap. You can chip in here -- but here are three bullet points that explain why it’s so critical that we reach our goal:

Jim Oberweis’ election contest is heading to a full vote on the floor of the U.S. House. This dangerous attack on our democracy is still impacting our campaign operation almost 6 months after Lauren won.
The NRCC has named us to their top target list and has already started attacking our campaign. Voters in our community need to know about Lauren’s strong record.
It’s been confirmed that Illinois is losing a seat in Congress due to redistricting -- so we are going to have to spend a lot of resources communicating with voters who may have no idea who Lauren is!

Our campaign is in one of the most challenging and unique positions because of what I listed above -- and our resources are being tested like never before.
