John,
If you missed the debate, watch it here:

We all knew Tony would outshine all of the other candidates in the first televised debate, and now the pundits agree.
From ABC 13's debate expert:
"What did surprise me is that not until Tony Buzbee did someone bring up the internship scandal...some people alluded to it, but it was Buzbee who was really the attack dog in this debate. Hitting Turner on corruption, pay to play and essentially placing all of the city's ills on a pay-to-play culture at City Hall that causes the city to be inefficient and spend resources in areas other than public service, that is more police, more fire, better streets."
From the ABC 13 debate analyst on Tony:
“There’s a reason why he’s a multimillionaire, he’s a very skilled litigator, he’s a very smart intelligent and driven person so the success he’s had in private life has put him on the top tier of the mayoral candidates simply because he’s somebody who has proven that he has the ability to go out and get things done and be successful.”
Debate Highlights – Notable Buzbee Quotes:
“I’ve built more structures than anybody on this stage times 50 and let me just say this: for this mayor to say of it’s not $4 billion it’s $1.18, but the number remains the same, it’s 15 people who’ve been helped. That’s ridiculous.”
“It’s interesting to me for a 30-year politician to complain about bureaucracy--that he created, that he’s a part of, and has been a part of.”
“First off, we pay a drainage fee, 100% of the drainage fee should be spent on drainage projects. That’s not what’s happening now.”
“There are small projects that we can do, because it’s a pay as you go concept to deal with these small drainage areas to mitigate this flooding that crushes people every time there’s a heavy rain. Do you need a politician? Another politician? Or do you need another problem solver?”

Violent crime has risen since Turner took office.
The city is also plagued by corruption. Turner’s $95,000 intern is just the latest in a long list of scandals.
