Living Streets 'Walk for the world' badge design competition

We're inviting all schools in Nottingham to take part in Living Streets' design a badge competition.

Be in with the chance to have your design printed on over 300,000 badges to be awarded to pupils who walk, cycle, scoot or park and stride to school at least once a week for a month.

This years theme is "Walk for the World, "and will focus on the sustainability benefits of walking, highlighting how local actions can have positive global impacts. Pupils will be asked to consider the contribution that traffic pollution makes to carbon emissions and to research and draw wildlife or a natural habitat affected by climate change.

For more information head over to the Living Streets website [ [link removed] ]. Competition ends Friday 28 May.

E-scooter
Scoot safely

This week we marked six months of the e-scooter trial [ [link removed] ] and reflected on how it's going and what we've discovered so far. Did you know Nottingham's scheme, operated by Wind Mobility, is the most popular fleet of e-scooters in the UK?

For everyone’s safety, we need people to ride responsibly [ [link removed] ] and be considerate of others, just as you would if you were driving a car or riding a bike.

* *Ride sober *– It might be tempting to hop on an e-scooter after a few drinks, but remember an e-scooter is a motor vehicle, and riding under the influence is illegal and dangerous. It could result in points on your driving licence, losing it entirely, or mean you can’t get one in the future.
* *Park sensibly* – Think of an e-scooter like a bike – riding on the pavement is illegal, and don’t leave them badly parked where they might be in the way of others.
* *Stick to roads and cycle paths* – E-scooters are allowed to go wherever you can go on a bike, so stick to the roads and cycle lanes. Be mindful of others and use the bell provided.
