The most extreme and partisan leaders of the Republican party are spreading falsehoods about the For the People Act. It seems clear they want to tank its popularity -- we need to take action against these kinds of direct attacks on important democracy reforms and you can do so right now by chipping in here. FIRST: Around the same time a poll revealed that 74% of Republican voters supported the For the People Act, former Vice President Mike Pence published an op-ed in a conservative blog spreading falsehoods about the bill in an effort to tank its favorability. THEN: Two of the most extreme members of the GOP, Marjorie Taylor Greene and Madison Cawthorn, joined VP Pence’s disinformation campaign that mischaracterizes the democracy protections in this bill. NOW: The bipartisan coalition of voters who support the For the People Act is under threat because partisan politicians like Pence, Cawthorn, and Greene are launching baseless attacks in the run-up to the Senate vote on this bill.
